Some parents and students can’t log in from home…

Once in a while we hear this, and so far every time it has been because parents and students are trying to log in to the video site from the wrong website. Parents and students must log in from LivresVideo.net  and not from LecturEnfant.net  (teacher access only, different username and password). Please be sure to check with parents that they are logging in from the video site LivresVideo.net. As all students in a class share the same username and password, it is extremely unlikely that it works for some but not for others.

How do I make a book?

Our PDF books come in two formats.

Format 1: it takes about a minute to make each book.

  1. Print all pages.
  2. Fold all pages down the middle, with text /illustrations on the outside
(tip: fold all pages together once entire book is printed).
  3. Remove cover page and put to the side.
  4. Separate all other pages (keeping them folded with fold on the right side and page ends on left side) and put these folded pages in proper order, starting with the first sheet of folded paper (inside cover page on front, page 1 on back) and ending with the last sheet of paper (last book page on front, vocabulary list on back).
  5. Once stack of folded pages are in order, place them all together inside book cover page (folded sides out and page ends inside).
  6. Staple through book cover into page ends (3 or 4 staples).
  • If you laminate the book covers these books will last a long time!
  • Here is a quick video demonstration showing a book being assembled.

Format 2: this format is for copier machines that have a booklet function enabled. These are 8.5″ x 5.5″ pages and machines will print, fold and staple books. If your school machine doesn’t do this, you board’s printing department likely does. This format was made in consultation with several school board printing departments. These books are not as sturdy as they are printed double sided.  However you can produce a class set in minutes.

Are there other videos?

In addition to the videos of our books, we have available videos that focus on sounds for students to practice consonant/vowel blends (for example: sa,se,si,so,su).  These come in 3 speeds for students to practice reading sounds.  There are also word list videos available, where words flash on the screen for students to read or to listen to.

Can I track the videos students are watching?

At the moment all students in a class share an account so there is no online tracking available.

In September 2018 we will have available a number of tracking sheets / reading logs for teachers to print so that students can record which books they have read.

We are also working on a new system that will allow teachers to track their students’ progress and time spent online.

Can I pay over the phone?

Sorry, all credit card transactions must be done online by the card holder. This helps us keep the cost of a license as low as possible and focus on creating new resources.

Do the videos have sound?

Yes! Students can listen to the book being read while the pages turn themselves on the screen.  Students can stop, pause, fast forward or rewind and adjust the volume.

There is also a visual cue on the screen so students can follow along, matching what they hear to the text on the screen.

Of course, students can also mute their device and read aloud, following the visual cue on the screen.

Do the videos work on iPads?

Yes! They will work well on desktops, laptops, tablets, phones, etc., provided you are connected to the Internet.

Can I search through all books?

Yes! Use the search box on each page to find specific books. For example, if you were looking for books on animals in level Fourmi(6), just enter ANIMAUX and FOURMI into the search box. You should use French keywords when searching.

Explain the login process…who logs in where?

Teachers from the same school share a username and password and log in to the same account from LecturEnfant.net.  This is for teachers only and provides access to all books and handouts in PDF.

Students accessing the videos share an account with their classmates and login from LivresVideo.net.  Teachers can share this with students so that students can access the videos from school or home or both.

What software do I need to see the resources?

To view the PDF resources you will need a PDF viewer (free) such as from Adobe.

To view video books you need an internet connection. Videos are not downloaded, they are streamed online.

Can students download and print books?

No, all PDF resources are found only in the teacher account and students may not access this account. Students may stream the video books online from both school and home by logging in to the shared classroom video account.

Who has access to the PDF books and handouts?

Only teachers have access to the PDF resources. Students may not access the teacher account. Students may access the shared video account for streaming books from school and home.

How many books are there?

Currently there are over 550 books spread over 18 levels of difficulty. These are both in PDF and in VIDEO format. In addition to this, there are over 130 other books (math, vocabulary, “Livres à Compléter”) included as well.

Several hundred books also come with an activity sheet.
